Working with one of the leading manufacturers of packing supplies in the world, we developed a system for binding and palletizing heavy bundles of paper that significantly improved productivity and worker safety while overcoming challenges related to limited space and more.
The system not only automated the placement of a top sheet, the binding the of the bundle and the palletizing of the bundles, it used the robot for the pallet dispensing process.
The greatest benefit of this system is that it eliminates the demanding work associated with binding and handling the heavy bundles.
The small-footprint robotic palletizer design was achieved with an innovative end-of-arm-tool that allowed the robot to pick and place top sheets, lift and place bundles, and even grab and dispense pallets.
The system was engineered to process two different-sized bundles with different top sheets, strapping requirements and pallet configurations.
